What's It All About.... Emma?
BAT (British Alternative Theatre) Chat is a monthly shout-out to some of the lesser known artists/theatre companies that made and/or make ground breaking work in times of political, social or civil unrest. Art for change and all that.
Its simple. You read this stuff I've bobbed together then either tweet it using the hashtag #BATChat1 or follow it up using the links I serve up. Last month (August 2014) I picked a company that has been around since 1968 and is in need of your support: Red Ladder Gis' a Tenner. |
In its simplest form it is just summary of the company / individual with a visual that could be circulated via social media to start a conversation about the work. Its nothing complicated, just a way to share knowledge. I'm @pout_productions...
I hope to start some relaxed meetups based on these sorts of topics too but I'm enjoying building this website too much at the moment. Sorry about that. In the meantime read on to find out more about this months offerings. |
September 2014: Slung Low..... Who / What / Why?
"Slung Low is a company that makes adventures for audiences outside of conventional theatre spaces.
Slung Low’s aim is to make unlikely, ambitious and original adventures for audiences, each with powerful, moving story at its heart. Shows that re-examine how audiences go and see a piece of theatre. Our ambition has always been to transport our audience to new places and to make them see familiar places from new perspectives." (Source) They're based in a random but awesome space down in Holbeck, Leeds (LS119UA). It's called the HUB which stands for Holbeck Underground Ballroom and its basically a DIY performance/event space in 5 railway arches. |
Erm, more to come but I've got to get back T day job right now...
