April 2012
(So, March was busy!) Need to update the website and take out some of the shit, I have just read through it now and think it all sounds a bit like waffy shit... More to follow but I just needed to get that off my chest!
February 2012...curating an arts tent for the Summer Saturnalia festival. The festival has been predominately a Music festival for the last 2 years, but the team wants to work with POUT to help get some cutting edge performance work for the festival.
The tent POUT will be helping to run is duly titled Opalia. In Roman mythology, Saturn was an agricultural deity who reigned over the world in the Golden Age, when humans enjoyed the spontaneous bounty of the earth without labor in a state of social egalitarianism. Opalia was the goddess that protected vegetation and nurtured growth for the Saturnalia festival.

I know I am a little early but I could not wait to share our new developments. We have had a nod from both the Huddersfield Examiner and The Guardian to say they are going to feature Julie's Shoes in their publications!
In other news we are in full swing getting ready for the tour starting NEXT WEEK. We have our set designer Parveen Ghir coming to the studio tomorrow (1st December) to drop of some props, we are very excited about this.

Another date for your diary, we have recently booked Henry Boons in Wakefield for the 9th December.
Rehearsals are moving along fantastically, and we have now decided that we are going to produce a short film to add to the start of the show. The film would be the prequel to Ian's capture and it will be projected onto a part of the set and played in black & white - Chaplin style. We are going to be filming next week and we should have some more set designs to show you soon. Keep checking back for more updates.

We have been pushing ahead with Julie's Shoes this month and the piece is really starting to take shape now. Our fantastic cast (Ian Sharpe and Jane Steele) have worked harder than ever as we continue to explore the relationship between Julie and her victim.
This week we introduced the 20 minute stress position training - a method we are using to condition Ian (who plays Julie's victim) into submitting to his oppressor. You can see from the picture on the right how physically (and emotionally demanding this process can be.
